What is Grow Rhondda?
Grow Rhondda is a community initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable gardening and local food production in the Rhondda area.
Its purpose is to empower residents by providing resources, support, and opportunities for community gardening.
The initiative aims to enhance food security, foster community connections, and encourage environmental sustainability through workshops, events, and collaborative projects that inspire people to grow their own food and engage with their local environment.
GROW RHONDDA CIC
Grow Rhondda CIC has a strong track record of working alongside communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf to respond to the growing food crisis. We have supported the development of new food pantries, provided practical advice, and delivered training to help groups plan for long-term sustainability.
Despite this work, our communities tell us the need is greater than ever. Food poverty continues to rise, driven by increasing energy costs, higher housing rates and local taxation, alongside reduced heating allowances and tightening state benefits. Local people are being stretched from every direction, and the pressure is clearly felt across households in RCT.

Y POT BACH
Y Pot Bach is a welcoming, safe space where the community can come together for warmth, support and connection during the cost-of-living crisis. Run by dedicated volunteers, with support from Interlink and a wide network of partner organisations, it offers more than practical help – it offers dignity, belonging and hope.
Shaped directly by what local people have asked for, Y Pot Bach reflects the voices of the community. We are well connected to local groups and understand the needs of those living here. Equality, inclusion and respect sit at the heart of everything we do. Everyone is welcome to share their experiences, raise concerns and help shape the future of Grow Rhondda CIC as we work together to tackle food poverty.

ROOTS 2 FRUITS
Launched on 1 April 2023, Roots 2 Fruits supports people through the cost-of-living crisis by combining practical information with hands-on food solutions. Working in partnership with RHA Wales and Public Health Wales, the project shares accessible recipes using vegetables grown by the community, helping people eat well for less while building confidence and skills.

MEN’S SHEDS – TYNEWYDD & TREORCHY
